Kele Baker

Kele is the Argentine Tango dance consultant for BBC's Strictly Come Dancing and, with Ralf Schiller, choreographs the Argentine Tango dances and coach the dancers. Kele and Ralf have also co-choreographed for Darren Bennet & Lilia Kopylova's show Latin Fever, and for their performance in English National Ballet's Strictly Gershwin. Kele choreographed the Argentine Tangos for No Way Out at the Southwark Playhouse and staged the dancing as well as coaching the actors for Stephen Poliakoff's BBC1 drama Joe's Palace.

Kele has appeared as dance expert and teacher on Dancing On Ice (ITV1), Would Like To Meet (BBC), Tell It To Me Straight (Channel 4), Diet on the Dance Floor (Living TV) and Bump 'n' Grind 2 (Trouble TV). She has worked with Royal Ballet Artistic Director Deborah Bull on her television programmes Travels With My Tutu (BBC2) and The Dancer's Body (BBC2).

Besides being the founder and organizer of Dance Al Fresco, Kele is co-author of Strictly Come Dancing: Step-By-Step Dance Class (BBC Books) and for 11 years was the co-director of the Kensington Dance Studio. She received her bachelor's degree in drama at Northwestern University, and a graduate studies certificate from London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Kele is also a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique.

A native New Yorker, Kele has been teaching dance since 1994. In the UK, Kele has taught for the Royal Shakespeare Company, London Studio Centre, LAMDA, the Oxford University Dance Society, University of London BALADS, and Central London Dance Studio. She was a member of the Club Dance Faculty of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. In the US, Kele has taught at Dance New York, Stepping Out Dance Studio (New York) and the Fred Astaire Dance Studio (Red Bank, NJ).
